Frequently Ask Questions
“The Beacon Hill Brass presented a short concert and coaching session to our Middle School students today. Their presentation was upbeat, entertaining and very appropriate to the age group. I was impressed by the positive interaction between the performers/teachers as they worked with these Grade 6 students. I highly recommend this group for educational presentations with young people.” David Flello |

How much will it cost?
Our fee is subject to negotiation and depends on the length of the engagement. Please call or email for a quote. Educational, senior, and other public concerts are eligible for a special grant from the Music Performances Trust Fund and can be surprisingly inexpensive.
Do I have to sign a contract?
We require you to sign a contract that sets out the time and place of the engagement, the fee, and any special details. We may also need a deposit to be paid up front.
I'm planning a wedding. Can you provide music for the service?
Yes! Brass quintet, brass quartet, or trombone quartet all work very well at weddings, and we have arrangements of popular wedding marches and interludes.
Do the musicians come to the wedding rehearsal?
Not usually. We are experienced in adapting the music to the speed of the wedding party. However, if desired we can come to the wedding rehearsal for a small extra fee.
Do you play Christmas concerts?
Our nickname is the “Christmas Carol Kings.” We have a variety of Christmas arrangements that we love to play!
We want you to play at our school. What age groups do you play for?
Our shows can be modified to suite any age group, from elementary through senior high school.
Do you give school clinics?
Yes. We have a special discounted rate for combined school concerts/clinics.
What musical styles do you play?
We play many different styles of music, from classical and romantic to jazz and popular music.
What does the group wear?
We can appear formal (Women: long evening gowns or black pants with white blouses. Men: tuxedos with black bow ties, tails with white bow ties, or white dinner jackets with black bow ties.), semi-formal, or casual.
Do you need any special equipment?
We usually use chairs, but we can also play standing for short engagements. We need to know in advance if lighting will be poor, so we can bring stand lights.
What kind of chairs do you need?
Almost any kind of armless chair will do.
Can you play outside?
Yes. However, it is difficult to play in direct sunlight or rain. We need some kind of cover: tree, awning, umbrella, veranda, etc.
What breaks do you need?
We play 30-50 minute sets depending on the requirements of the job. We require at least one 15 minute break/hour. Breaks can be coordinated with the client.
What happens if we want the group to stay longer than originally booked?
There is a five minute grace period at the end of any engagement. Beyond the grace period, overtime is charged in 15 minute increments.
Do you take requests?
Yes, if we can get the music in advance from the client, on the Internet, or at a music store. Also, if you have a recording we can often arrange the song. There may be an extra charge for this service.
